Article Summary:
This study investigated osteoarthritis and the joint space narrowing associated with osteoarthritis after 3 years of treatment in a study. The joint space narrowing was taken at baseline and again after 3 years to determine how much it has changed over the course of the study. Glucosamine sulfate was administered to some of the participants. The joint space narrowing was significantly less for those patients who took the glucosamine sulfate. There was also a reduction in the joint space narrowing for those who took glucosamine sulfate. This suggests that those patients who have arthritis and are experiencing joint space narrowing would benefit from glucosamine sulfate treatments which aid in minimizing and repairing this problem.
